March

March is Have A New Adventure Once A Week month.

Week 1's adventure is:
SAILING ON A TALLSHIP!!

The Hawaiian Cheiftain
Remember back in February I met Rachel? Rachel is a sailor, and along with Jarrod we set to sea! We dressed in our very best 1800's nautical garb we sailed into the San Francisco Bay and had a cannon battle with another Two Master called The Lady Washington.

Two salty Sea-men.
I was kind of expecting a three hour tour, enjoying the breeze and watching from the deck. Instead, when we came aboard Captain Shiney asked us if we wanted to help out. My job was to man the braces, which are the three ropes that turn this:

All hands begin piratey lingo as able!
We unfurled and set sail for a nice little ride into the Bay.

No joke, that gets moved with six ropes.
SUDDENLY, from starboard we spot the enemy!

Oh noes!
Then we started playing an 1860's version of laser tag with cannons. Since we couldn't actually fire three pounds of lead and steel at the other boat, we had to listen for the echo of the sound wave bouncing off their hull. All and all we scored eighteen direct hits to their six.

After soundly defeating the bad guys we sailed back into port. A sail on the foredeck got snagged on a rope and Cap'n Shiney had to run off to unsnag it, leaving Rachel in charge of the helm:

Add Sloop Captain to her resume of awesomeness.
Adventure accomplished.

Week 2's adventure is:
GROW A MUSHROOM KIT!!

Admittingly not as cool as the upcoming sailing adventure, but I had to start this one early since it takes 10 days for a harvest.

Oyster mushrooms!

**UPDATE 3/15** Got my first baby mushrooms today. Should be another few days before I can harvest. I'm planning a dinner of some sort for my friends.

Overnight these popped right up!
The next day I went a little wild with the misting and check the results!

BOOM, baby.
All and all I got about a half pound of Oyster mushrooms. They made a great sauce that I ate with a giant ribeye. A GIANT ribeye.

Celebration is awesome.

Week 3's adventure is:

ALL YOU CAN COOK KOREAN BBQ!!

A vegetarian's worst nightmare.
I got entirely too busy at work and so I had to miss the deadline. We're planning on Wednesday of week 4. Should be fun. Updates soon.

Week 4's adventure is:
RIDING A FREAKING HORSE!!

That's totally going to be me. You'll see.
After our adventure as salty seadogs, Jarrod and I are going to saddle up and hit the trail for to unleash the inner cowpoke.

I hear Point Reyes is super awesome. I'm excited.

Pictures to come as they happen.
